The second edition of the Arab Anti-Smoking Award "Makin" 2024 was launched in Riyadh, which is hosted this year by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This was announced during the introductory forum for the Arab Anti-Smoking Award "Makin", which was organized by the Anti-Smoking Program at the Ministry of Health and hosted by the "Naqaa" Association, in the presence of the General Supervisor of the Anti-Smoking Program at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Mansour Al-Qahtani, the Chairman of the Coordinating Committee for Anti-Smoking Associations in the Kingdom, Dr. Badr Al-Dabbasi, and the Director General of the National Center for Mental Health Promotion, Dr. Abdul Hamid Al-Habib.
Dr. Mansour Al-Qahtani stressed the importance of the role of associations and non-profit institutions in supporting the project to protect society from the scourge of smoking.
For his part, Dr. Majid Al-Munif, Chairman of the Arbitration Committee for the Makin Award, pointed out the role of the award in transferring experiences and success stories between the countries of the region, indicating that this year two tracks were added to the award, namely the track of the best project on the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day, and the track of the best project to promote a safe and sustainable environment.
In this regard, the President of the Arab Union for Human Sciences and Development and Secretary-General of the Arab Anti-Smoking Award praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Health, in supporting the award and encouraging participation in it, noting that the Kingdom obtained first place in a number of award tracks, most notably the best school project, the best charity association for combating smoking, the best smoking cessation services, the best scientific research, and third place in the track of universities without smoking.
